Event Details

Event Overview

• Location: Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

• Duration: 4 Days, 3 Nights

• Maximum Elevation: 4,095 m (Low’s Peak)

• Program Type: High Altitude Climb

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Transfer to Kinabalu National Park/ Pusat Latihan Kenegaraan Kundasang

9:30 AM – 10:00 AM : Arrival to Kota Kinabalu International Airport and get own transport to

Shangri La, Tanjung Aru

10:00 AM : Opening Ceremony at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru.

Opening Ceremony by VIP and Tourism Sabah

10:00 AM : Join the Opening Ceremony by VIP at Shangri-La Hotel, Tanjung Aru.

12:00 PM : Opening Ceremony by VIP at Shangri-La Hotel, Tanjung Aru.

2:00 PM : Departure from Shangri-La Hotel to Kinabalu Park. Estimated time: 2PM

4:15 PM : Arrival at Kinabalu Park or Akademi Kenegaraan for registration.

6:30 PM : Dinner and AMS Talk by Mr. Ravichandran and climb briefing.

Day 2 – Climbing Begins

5:00 AM : Wake up (own time).

6:00 AM – 7:00 AM : Breakfast and ready to move to Kinabalu Park.

7:00 AM – 8:00 AM : Collect packed lunch (from GEC Representative), and transfer to Registration

Counter at Kinabalu Park.

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM : Collect TAG, organize or deposit travel bag at SSL Counter, arrange porter &

meet your mountain guide.

8:30 AM : Transfer by Koktas from Kinabalu Park to Timpohon Gate.

9:00 AM : Briefing by Kinabalu Guide at Timpohon Gate.

9:30 AM : Start ascend from Timpohon Gate to Laban Rata.

2:30 PM – 3:00 PM : Reach Laban Rata.

6:00 PM : Dinner will be served at Laban Rata Restaurant

7:00 PM : Short briefing & rest overnight at Laban Rata.

Day 3 – Summit Push & Descent

1:45 AM : Wake up & be prepared at Laban Rata.

2:00 AM : Supper at Laban Rata before departure for the summit push.

2:30 AM : Start summit push (subject to Sabah Park Ranger approval for Gate Opening).

6:00 AM : Reach Low’s Peak (4,095 m) & sunrise viewing. (Everyone is free to enjoy the stay on the

summit until 7.30am or descend early at their own time and reach Laban Rata for your rest and

breakfast).

7:30 AM : Latest time to descend from the summit.

10:30 AM : Check out from Laban Rata.

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM : Start descend to Timpohon Gate.

4:00 PM : Already exit from Timpohon Gate.

Important Notes: If climber are late to exit Timpohon Gate after 4.00pm, there will additional guide

charges. (Additional Guide Fee - Climbers who exit late after 4.00pm from Timpohon Gate will have to

pay extra charges for the guide who accompanying them according to the hours. The rate x no of

guides. Late exit charges will apply and must be paid directly to the guides accompanying you

(sometimes 1-2 guides).

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM : Transfer by Koktas from Timpohon Gate to Kinabalu Park / Registration

Counter and organize your travel bag collection.

Before 4:00 PM : Pack Lunch prepared.

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM : Return transportation from Kinabalu Park to Akademi Kenegaraan

(Late exit after 6:00 pm, additional charges will be charged by the driver for waiting charges

from RM50 - RM100 per driver. Any climber who exit after 8:00 pm, will recommend at their

own transportation manage own transportation or convince their group members to wait for

them. They have to manage some additional charges for the drivers).

o Mountain Guide (One Guide to 5 Climbers).

Important Notes: -

1. Physical Preparation. Participants are encouraged to follow the 3 month training

programme to build stamina and strength before the climb.

2. Altitude Awareness. Climbing Mount Kinabalu involves High Altitude Readiness.

Acclimatisation and proper pacing are essential for safety and successful expedition.

Health & Safety. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions should submit a

medical clearance before joining the event.
